Rear Entertainment

Hi everyone,
I finally got my 2009 x5 4.8i. It's pretty much loaded with space gray metallic and black interrior. Love this car. Have two nagging questions:

1. I have the rear entertainment and am wondering how to do play a dvd or even power it on from the driver seat instead of having to reach back to hit the on button? The remote nor iDrive seems to not have the power on button.

2. I have the premium sounds and it comes with 6 DVD changer. The manual say it will play DVD while not in drive. I was curious and tried it out in park and just battery on and only hear the dvd with no video to the nav system. Is this a US spec dealio?

thanks!

Funny thing is, this was the one thing he was not sure of. He knew everything else but this was the first car with rear entertainment that he had to deal with. Amazing isn't it?

I have the dual-screen (mount behind the front seats) with wireless headsets. I'd assume the dvd player itself under the center consel is the same as yours. I remember I couldn't power on my DVD player and thought it was broke. Turns out you have to turn the monitor on, within 5 sec, you would then have to turn the power on. No control from the front -- hence it's a "rear" entertainment I guess....

That sucks. My son is young and I have to reach back everything to turn it on. I wish there was a way in idrive or the remote control for the rear entertainment to power it on and run it. especially with the remote!
