Absolutely Amazed by the X5 4.8

Well guys...I only have about 750 miles on my X5, but I thought i'd share my findings on the car thus far. In short, I am ABSOLUTELY amazed by how much I love this truck.

-This is the first truck i've ever owned. My past cars have all been sports coupes except for a 3 series sedan(2006) and Z3 (1997). I was leary about getting a truck and to be honest, the only reason I did was because my wife and I are expecting our first child. I LOVE small cars...and I'm shocked to say this, but, I don't think i'll ever go back to a sports coupe or a Sedan as a Daily Driver.
-The 4.8 is simply amazing. It's the perfect amount of a punch for the truck. Amaple power is always there, whether for cruising or hard driving.
-My biggest reason for never wanting a truck was I was afraid with how it would handle. I can't believe what it feels like. It feels almost as if it is glued to the road. When it turns, it feels almost like car, very little roll or "lean". Is it because of the Sports Package? Whatever the reason, the confidence I feel driving it is unmatched.
-I was so tired of the harshness in my 335 coupe with the performance tires that I didn't even consider the 20's. And I'm glad I did not. The ride is amazing.
-We all know how great the interior is, so I won't rehash it.

Issues:

All my issues are fairly minor...

-The premium sound isn't as great as I would have hoped. I may just have to tweak it a bit.
-The headlight washers spray water onto the hood. This drove me nuts in the 335 and drives me nuts on this one. Anyone else have this issue?
-I should have gotten comfort access. I had this on the 335. I miss it. I didn't get it because the wife hated it. Women...

All in all...couldn't be happier!!!

don't give up on the sport coupes just yet bro. even as my Z06 sits in the garage more and more. but i do agree with you otherwise. 12.5 months & 22k miles and i am still thrilled with the vehicle. i do wish it were a little easier getting in it however. it reminds me of a suburban except the running boards on the X are mostly useless for ingress. i second the choice of 19's. much more practical for everyday use.

i've been DD'ing pick-ups for the last 15 years or more. imagine my suprise.

The spay up to the windshield is pretty normal. While I don't have it on my X5, I had it on two MB's and the same thing would happen.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the feel of the X5.
It don't drive like a truck or another SUV, it is one of a kind right next to the Cayenne.
I also have a 3 series and A4 and it seems so dull compared to the X5!

Same here I should have got the Comfort access but my wife didn't want it for safety reasons (kids).
But I don't think it would've been an problem and I regret not getting it.

How's your 4.8i on gas?
I have the 35d and it is better or the same on fuel as my A4 1.8T (gasoline).

As much as I love the X and the amazing things it can do for a 5000lb hulking beast (compared to my 3er atleast I still miss my 3 on occasion. Have convinced wife that we do need another and to my amazement she agreed

I think a little sibling like a 335i convertible will fit snugly in the warm shadows of big brother X5 Now only gotta figure out where to get that 60K
