Help with rear climate package

Hi guys.

I ordered the rear climate package on the 35d. Does this include a rear blind for the back window? I think the side windows get rear blinds?

I notice a rear blind (not electric) for the back window in the accessories list.

I had the rear blind in my M3 and loved it. I always had it up even at night. Not sure, but just got use to look out the back window with the rear blind !!

Thanks for the clarification.

In the X5, the rear climate includes manual roller sunblinds for the 2nd row only. Along with things like privacy glass and a (IMO not very effective) 2nd row of climate controls.

Yeah, no rear blind on the X5, just the manual shades on the rear side windows. The farctory tint isn't dark enough in my opinion and that was my only reason for the rear climate package, tinted windows...

A related question -- I bought an Oct 2006 production E70 including the rear climate package. At that time, the side shades were not available, but a couple of months later, they were included in the rear climate package (at no additional cost). Do I have any recourse against BMW to get the retrofit?

Good luck getting anything out of BMW. My car had damage to three wheels when I took delivery. I made the mistake of taking delivery. I thought the dealer/BMW would replace the wheels. Now, they want to refinish my wheels. I don't want refinished wheels on a new car. It only took them 1.5 months to come up with their decision. This is my 4th BMW and my last BMW...

I don't think you should let a bad dealer sway you from the brand overall. A good and respectable dealer would change the wheels.

The decision to refinish the wheels came from BMWNA. It only took them 1.5 months to let me know they wouldn't replace my wheels. Plaza Motors in St. Louis sucks! I took my car there for them to inspect my wheels. The sales manager said he needed to see what I was talking about. He offered to refinish the wheels. I also had a rattle in my drivers side front window in the cold weather. They took my car over several speed bumps and said they coudln't hear the window rattle, but installed some felt in the window track. Well, they did manage to knock my car out of alignment front and rear and the window is better, but not fixed. I talked to the service manager who said, we could have knocked your car out of alignment, bring it back and we will check it. Only problem, they're two hours each way from my house. I wouldn't go across the street for service like that. I put in a call to Plaza Motors general manger yesterday and he never returned my call. I won't buy another car from BMW or Plaza Motors St. Louis. They knew the wheels were damaged when I took delivery. They said go ahead and take the car and we will take care of the wheels later.
Lesson learned, never trust a car dealer or BMW....

Craig:

Sorry to hear about the problems. I would let them refinish the wheels, and if I couldn't see the repair afterwards it would be fine. If it still showed, I would ask for new wheels. Just my opinion.

If I understand correctly, you purchased your car from a dealer 2 hours away because they had a lower price, while a dealer close to you wanted more for the initial sale. Is that right? Do you have any relationship with the selling dealer? I think that there is a correlation between dealers who make a fair profit and can reinvest that in customer service, vs dealers who are just moving cars out the door at very low margins, and don't reinvest in customer service. The concept of buying at less than list is at odds with reinvestment in the business. I am not excusing bad service, and the worst situation is to pay a higher price and still get bad service, but there are a couple of different business models out there, and I choose to buy from a dealer that has a fair price (not the lowest) but provides a better overall experience. I think that is very criticial to have that dealer relationship when dealing with a new car model and potential teething problems, and to argue your case in front of BMWNA if there are problems.

I have worked for dealers, and for a distributor that has sub-dealers, with other brands than BMW. Just my $0.02.
