209 wheels

I was at the dealer this morning and I'm getting breake the deal on X5 4.8 cause I argured w/ a wheel selection issue.

I hate the look of the 209's (sorry 209 owners, this is me I'm sure they are OK technically) and I'm ready to get any other design whatever the cost, but dealer says that there is no way to install any other than standard 209's if I won't buy the sport package. Huh !

I just don't want to add sport package and want "any"other 18" or 19" design than 209's. (like 210, 211, 213 etc) Not fancy 21" ones. I'm ready to pay $1,000 extra too. Is it a stupid offer? What is wrong with it?

Any experiece? What should I do to not to get 209's but not to get sport package as well?

It is a ~$70K car, and it's a big investment for me. Why should I accept the wheels I don't like? Is it possible that BMW can not offer any other design with extra $1K? Dealer says NO !

Show that your seriously prepared to walk away from the deal and you may get somewhere.
Don't accept anything that you don't want, remember your the one paying so dont accept this sort of crap from the sales person. BMW are notorious for thinking that they can hold you to ransom just because your standing in their showroom. If the sales person is not willing to work with you on this you should turn your back and go to another dealer.

Bozz.

Truthfully, its difficult for them to do this. They would have to find someone else who wants to swap wheels or order you a new set of wheels which YOU would pay for. They dont have the luxury or the flexibility of altering the standard issue equipment. If this was years ago and there was several thousand dollars in the car for them, they'd probably work with you but they're making nothing on you as it is. Unfortunately, your request is just a headache to them. I say they let you walk if you stand firm. I also highly suggest the sport pkg. Living in Manhattan doesnt mean you wont benefit. The 19's arent any different of a ride than the 18's and a sport pkg equipped car just looks and feels so much better. Good luck

The vehicles have exact specifications when you order them. The 4.8i comes with a specific set of wheels; the sport pkg. comes with a specific set of wheels, and you have the option of upgrading to the 21" for a premium. They don't exactly have wheels laying around for customers to pick and choose. Otherwise you would have 3.0i owners choosing 21" wheels which may or may not be suitable for that specific vehicle.

If you plan on changing them anyway, order the least expensive set, without sport pkg and buy the set you really want. The best I could do with my dealer is negotiate a price on the 21" and 'trade in' the brand new 20" Y spoke that it comes with. They offered me half the retail price on the 20" so they can turn around and sell them. I don't know if I'll take them up on it. But again, this is at the dealer level and your dealer may offer you something else. Good luck!

By the way which style wheels do you want??
