I think you will just "learn to live" with these BMW, E70, quirks. As long as you don't get the infamous "bing" chime while driving, and loads of battery drainage messages, malufunction lamps, etc, etc...I think you will love your new E70. Btw, your Avatar is showing an old E53, and your signature isn't showing your new Xer. Tell us what model, colour combo, packages and stand alone options. I know it's hard to let go of the E53, but time to update your User Cp with your new E70! Congrats on the new BMW!!

For washing the car, I leave my CA fob on the driver's seat. that way I am unable to lock the car accidently, but also no more annoyance!

Yes, just leave the key inside and this does not happen.

There is a button on the dash that will allow you to turn this on/off

You dont, it will shut off automatically after time. Or simply hold the stop button a bit longer before exiting.

There should be a way to turn that off. All Canadian cars should have this feature (annoyance) permanently off. Yes it's the north pole, it's ALWAYS below -3 degrees! We don't need to be reminded everytime we get in and out of our car.
not sure how to disable this, it only freezes 3 times a year here, so I dont mind.

Heck you can't even switch it on from the remote. You have to manually hit the button on the bottom of the rear/centre console. Have you tried to reach for it?? Let's just say it's easier to get out of the car and do it from the back seat. Either that or just play the dvd as soon as you get in the car ... whether or not your kid wants to see it yet! Oh and listen to Barney sing along because you don't want to put headphones on your two year old! Heck let's just fold it down and get it out of the way so you keep hitting your elbow in it!
Yea, the factory DVD has its faults, but that's why we test drive a car before buying...there are other non factory options available. Despite its faults I prefer the factory setup. Once your kids are old enough to deal with it themselves these annoyances are forgotten. Personally I wish I never added this feature, the kids will disagree though.

Okay guys, I was holding on to the good memories of my E53 but after 3 or 4 people have mentioned it, I will change my avatar.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my new ride! A friend of mine bought the E53 off me and I actually sat in it a couple of days ago...and thought to myself Wow! The new E70 is SO much nicer and such a dream to drive with the active steering. I didn't miss the E53 at all. It's all the overload of safety/electronic features that drive me crazy some days!

It's like attractive high maintenance women ... you can't live with them some days and you certainly can't live without them! And why settle for an 'average' looking one?
