2009 X5 3.0 Loaner with 9K mi. - Good deal, Bad deal?
I'm trying to buy a loaner vehicle. It's a 2009 X5 3.0 with 9,000-miles on it, with an in service date of 10/31/09 -- it is NOT certified and is being sold as new with the standard BMW factory warranty. The MSRP is 56,575 ... they are telling me not to waste their time, their bottom line figure is a purchase price of 49,500 (7,075 off MSRP). That seems like a lousy deal, but I have nothing tangible to base that on. They are telling me I should be happy to get the 2.9% APR, and that it's as good as it's going to get.
The vehicle is 100% the way I want it. It's in excellent shape, drives great. I can't see getting a "near" new X5 configured this way much cheaper. Any opinions on whether or not I'm getting a fair deal here? Thanks in advance. |

No arm wrestle here but if they already told you "not to waste their time, their bottom line figure is a purchase price of 49,500 7,075 off MSRP" and if The vehicle is 100% the way you want it. It's in excellent shape, drives great. and you can't see getting a "near" new X5 configured this way much cheaper then it sounds like you have your mind made up.
Go for it

I was on the phone with the salesman today, giving him my point of view. I was very pleasant, not confrontational at all. We probably had spent 5-minutes on the phone at the point. He says, "We could argue all day. I don't want to waste your time or mine. We can't go lower."
That's a ballsy negotiation tactic (assuming it is one) in this economy. Especially considering we're talking about a loaner that's on the verge of hitting 10K miles. I'm thinking I'll take a chance that it gets sold, and wait until the last weekend of the month and then show up with my checkbook and see if I can get maybe 2K more out of them. |
