CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) warranty.

I've been owning my '07 E70 since it was a new and the mileage is about to hit 50k already. how are the extended warranty and CPO warranty different? I'm curious about a maintenance warranty as well. What should I buy before my current warranty expires. Some people mentioned about the third party warranty companies to get it at lower cost. I AM CONFUSED!!!

i don't believe you can get a CPO if you already own the car. unless you sold it and bought it back.

CPO is 6 years or 100k miles from original in service date.

The OOP, or O2P is still being offered, I believe. It is a similar or nearly identical verison of CPO,
offered to orig. owners. If you GOOG it you will see pages of BMW dlrs offering the program, via
credit card/call in, on the net.

From memory, its structure is nearly identical with CPO, but both warranty coverages are not quite
as encompassing as the orig/oem warranty. Neither should be confused with Extended Maintenance.

A 3rd party extended warranty will vary by the company, the underwriter, the whim of the servicing dlr, etc.

For a night's worth of reading, plug any of the above terms into the handy Search Tab.

Quote from BMW:
BMW Original Owner Protection Plan

The Original Owner Protection Program is an extended service contract designed exclusively for the original owner/lessee of a BMW vehicle. The original owner/lessee may purchase the extended service contract at any time while the vehicle is still under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The service contract offers an additional two years/50,000 miles of protection once the New Vehicle Limited Warranty has expired and guarantees that covered repairs will be performed using only Original BMW parts at and authorized BMW repair facility. Also offering the benefits of BMW Roadside Assistance, the Original Owner Protection Program helps make long term BMW ownership more rewarding than ever.

I think the BMW extended warranty and CPO are the same. I have the extended warranty but whenever I take it in for service they refer to it as a CPO.
