just scored 20" 214's brand new OEM take offs

I wanted the black 215's for the longest but just couldn't spend that much.

Coincidentally, I was killing time at my local BMW shop.. and I saw my car/color with these rims but was a 4.8 I have a 09' 3.0.. I was drooling.

I have the standard 5 star 18's on it now. When I was talking to the salesman he told me that a guy came in and bought an X5 4.8 with 214's for his wife and she hated the rims. After she drove off the lot, she went across the street and put chrome Lorenzo's on it.

So I went over to the shop across the street and the guy first tried to sell me the wheels (tires not included) For 1200.00 which I thought was still a decent deal..

Make a long story short:

I haggled with him a bit and got the 214's with brand new tires incuded (bridgestone dueler's) for $1800.00 OTD .. since I am keeping my existing tires/wheels for when I drive up north, I had to get tire monitors/sensors from the BMW shop. an additional $75.00 x4

so what do you guys think? Is that a good deal?

I'll post some pics this afternoon when I get them wheels put on!!

Oh and he said he could 'bake' any color on to the wheel that I want for $135 x4 .. I was thinking of doing it black, he called it 'powder dip' anyone have any experience doing that?

Since you sealed the deal already, it doesnt really matter what anyone else thinks. I say you did good. As far as "powder dip" Are you sure he didnt say powder coat? Wheels are either painted OR powdercoated. Powdercoat tends to be more durable and a better application for a wheel. You have more color options with paint though. I personally have never heard of powder dipping.

Yes you did great. I sold my 19s w/ rubber on about 500mi. for $1200. $1800 is a great price regardless.

NICE! Good score! I guess the original TPMS went with the Lorezo wheels? I believe there is a thread about BMW uses the same TPMS sold from Tire Rack.

As much as I love the wheels I noticed a small problem when I got back home with it while taking the above pictures...

looks like (front left) when he jacked up the car to put wheels on he cracked the plastic piece behind the jack square (not sure the right name) so there is a broken piece about 6 inches long and 2 cm wide.. the piece actually was dangling by a thread...

so yes I got a great deal with these rims.. but I hate when stuff like this happens and I baby the heck out of this car. I know it's underneath and not a big deal.. but I know it's there.. so I am asking.. what would you guys do? I haven't called the guy, but plan to in the morning.. does anyone know if this is an expensive thing to replace? It just seems like a big plastic protective piece..

grr.. still excited about the wheels, but bummed this happened. Please advise.

Don't you have to get an alignment after switching to the 20" wheels? I would have the tire shop pay for the broken part. I wish my car came with the 20" wheels, I could only order mine with 19" wheels.

I don't know if he was just selling me but my SA said that with the wider wheels the camber is off so I had him do it. I also wasn't sure if the shop who put it on ever did it so I gave in.

The jacking point piece is not expensive and is easily replaced.
