New here, installing Aero Kit

I got my OEM Aero Kit for $870 shipped, and found a shop here in Maryland that will paint, custom cut the section around my towing kit, and install...all for $550. So, it looks like my opportunity cost will be $1420 after everything is done. I would usually install myself, but, it seems like a no-brainer to let them install for such a price.

What kind of prices are other folks getting for this? Does my cost look like a fair deal to most?

That kind of answer will discourage him from posting again.

Thanks so much for jumping to my response; you're too kind. But, I'm a big boy and can handle myself (not that I do not totally appreciate you).

Reality is, for the guy who responded to my post, I will say, I have been a mechanic since I could walk, I've owned BMW's, and have only owned BMW's (with the exception of one Lexus and a Grand Cherokee Overland) since before I've even had my license. When my vehicle has a problem, I tell the service technicians what is wrong with my vehicle(s)...I know BMW technology, etc. like the back of my hands. Get it?

I am not seeking a smartass response, nor do I need someone to tell me about searching the broad database of archives that would do not much other than lead me on a 8 hour trail of repetition and confusion. I've asked a question, gave numbers, and given all the research I've done, I believe I've received a great price. If someone else got a better price, I'd love to hear about it. If not, I'd love to share my knowledge and resources with the other board member(s) seeking to do this upgrade so he/she/they could save some money.

Sorry if I seem rude to some of the regulars...may seem arrogant of a newbie, but, I'm a blunt individual, I mean well, I've got a wealth of knowledge on BMW's I'd love to share with those who want to learn, and I've got connections who can provide discounted parts (as well as friends, including myself, who can help install parts). I've never been on this board, but I've been on many others. Let's make friends and share knowledge folks!

Oh yeah...and thanks for the link

one of the lower prices I've seen. People get it for $900 then they still need it painted even if they can do the install themself. Typically I've seen anywhere from $1400 to $2500 (I paid $2300+tax full $tealer install - got the price of the car down then they got me on this but I had to have it). Another $tealer wanted $3600 - that's not a typo.

EDIT>> searching usually is great since you can time-leap to answers you will be receiving... and it looks like I already posted the same thing in that linked thread. Anyway, welcome onboard. You're not a huge Caps fan like me are you?

Yikes! I always somehow get things for ridiculously low prices; although I can afford it, I do not like to pay it. LOL After the install I will post pix of the result and recommend the seller of the product, as well as the shop if I am totally satisfied with the results.

I paid just under $1000 for the kit and had it painted/installed for $750. You should be real happy with that price! Well done.

Perhaps we do know the same person, but, I won't tell until I am fully satisfied with all the results.

Just a quick update, it's in the shop right now. Today, they installed it, drew all the lines around the rear portion around my towing pkg., customized the rear, and took it off for painting. I believe they've started the painting late today, but, not yet certain. Anywho, I have a 545 and a Grand Cherokee Overland, so, I told them to keep it to make it easier for me, as well as possibly expedite the process (they told me I could take it back for a few days, but, what's the point?).

I'd love for things to work out so I can post my results and make recommendations. I'm also amazing at doing group buys (flattering myself...no, but really, I am), and could possibly work out something to get these things for lower prices as well if a bunch jump aboard. It'd totally just be board community service with nothing in it for me, but, I need to read up on the board policies before offering such!

Okay, okay...will let you guys know more details by Thursday.

Ok, just an update. My experience was excellent; the parts were installed, perfectly customized (they even re-directed my rear wire harness for easier access when towing), and the paint work was great.

If there is anyone on here with a towing package unsure about getting the aero kit, or anyone local in the MD/DC/VA area...or even someone who just needs their aero kit painted for a low price, let me know and I'll hook up up with these guys. BTW, the price for me to get done all I had done was $550...for everyone else, it's $650. I don't get any kick-backs or anything like that; it's just that he realized he charged me too little for all the work and told me everyone else would be more.
