Third Row Air Conditioning Issue - anyone else get warm air all the time?

I don't use my third row too often so I just discovered this issue. The air vents in the third row blow warm air, even if my AC is set to maximum cool (i.e., max power at 60 deg F). Is this common? Has anyone else noticed this with their X5?

I've got a 2007 model, 4.8i.

The 3rd row ventilation is just a fan, not connected with the climate system.
no heat or A/C.
I know, it sucks for a premium vehicle!!!
