Cost to buy and install dual DVD system? wondering if I'm getting screwed

I am looking at the Invision SL Active dual DVD players for a 2009 X5 I ordered recently. The dealership is quoting $2750 plus tax to buy and install the part# 65120440062 (Invision: Grey nevada leather seat-back dual DVD players) partly based on their saying it will take 5 hours to install completely.

I just bought a brand new X5 from them and it seems like this is a bit on the high side considering that. Does anybody know about how much time it should take to install these things? Also, I've seen retail is $1999 but that's retail right? Found resellers online offering as low as $1700, which means they are also making a margin on the units themselves I would guess. As far as I can tell they are maxing out margin on labor and the units which I find very bothersome after spending 60k on a car through them.

As far as labor rates go I've heard they range from about $85-150/hour max but even at $150, a very high rate it seems(?) it doesn't seem like it should come out that high.

Am I being unreasonable?

thanks in advance,
Charles

install for something like that should be much faster than the time they are quoting, as they don't need to mount the dvd anywhere, they just have to run a power source to your headrests.

from experience, it only takes about 10 mins max to pull off each of the seat backs and run the line in from your new headrests.

That definitely sounds like it's on the high side. Circle BMW sells the DVD player for $1,795. I'm wondering if there is an aftermarket alternative? If you really want the OEM look, simply purchase the DVD kit and have an indie install for you.

As a comparison, I spent ~$3,000 installing 7" headrest monitors, 2 JL Audio amps & capacitors, Alpine NAV, and MBQ component speakers in my H2.

Do you have any pictures of actual installations on an E70? According to your website, the SL Active would be the appropriate model for us? Price?

What year X5 do you have? I have tons of pictures but if you have an 08 - 09 X5 you ned to go with the factory part, which I manufacture. If you have an earlier E70 model than I can direct you to a great deal no problem. The factory BMW Kit that I manufacture is the SL Active system for the active headrests. It is the dual DVD System. Retail from BMW is $1999, plus installation.
If you need additional assistance, please feel free to contact me at my office.

Thx.
