The clunk/thud noise is heard a couple of times always before going up to the 3rd gear (the car starts off at 2nd gear) after starting the vehicle. The noise can't be heard after the initial take off even when coming to a full stop and going again. It has to sit for at least 10 to 15 minutes before starting and driving to hear the noise again.
It's a clunk/thud type of noise coming front under hood, but sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the middle to rear section under the body.
I've had this problem for a year since I received the vehicle new and was just hoping it would go away, but it won't.
I thought it's a mechanical fault in the transmission but I'm also starting to think it might be related to the transfer case, because sometimes when I'm going down and turning right at the same time, the similar noise is heard supposedly from the rear, and I can even feel it clunk/thud through the floor. I'll be bringing it to the dealer shortly. Any one familiar with this problem?
