Windshield and Radar block...

Can anyone tell me if the E70 X5's have that annoying windshield which prevents a Valentine 1 radar detector from working properly?

In both my current 750i, my gone but not forgotten E53 4.8is and if I remember correctly, even in my 2001 E53 4.4i.. The front windshield had some sort of film or treatment, that prevented my Valentine radars from indicating detection in front of the car..

Does this problem still exist in the current vehicles?

Thanks.

You are saying that a Valentine 1 won't work on the E53 X5? Is that with the standard or comfort windshield or both?

Not sure if it is standard or comfort windshield... To be honest, I don't know the difference..

But every X5 I have ever owned and now my 7 series has a problem with my V1.. And it's not even the same V1's.. I've upgraded.

The side sensors work fine. The rear sensors work fine.. But the forward sensor doesn't go off until after you have passed the police car.. The signal jumps from reverse to forward..

I do remember this was a common problem that other X5 owners had.. Just wasn't sure if it had been corrected or changed cause my 750i does the same damn thing..

Doesn't happen in my Porsche though with same radar.

I thought the comfort windshield wasn't even available as an option in the US for the e53? Only way people got the comfort windshield was ordering a replacement screen. BTW...where do you mount your V1?

FYI...V1 is working fine in my e53...5 years and counting.
