Angel Eyes without side light

Hey guys,

I have a 2007 E70 and in my daily travels I dont see many E70's. In the past week I have seen 3 with angel eyes (not sure if this is what they are actually called - are they also referred to as DRL's?) on and no amber side lights (parking lights?).

Is this a modification or are the newer X5's coming out with this lighting?

Cheers,
Aaron

This is called Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and yes, all E70's should have the feature. You can enable or disable through i-drive.

I'm surprised to see so many E70s on the road with them off to be honest.

Also, the tech I rode with yesterday mentioned so many people don't even know about the trip computer and how it keeps track of mpg. I told him I don't usually use it because I don't really want to know.

Interesting...

So when I turn the light knob to parking lights that is giving me parking lights with the angel eyes and you guys are saying there is a way in i-drive to have just the angel eyes constantly on without the parking lights? If this is the case, where can I find this setting?

BTW, cheers for the replies

If you want just the eyes without the yellow side markers leave it at either 0 or Auto... the auto will either have full head lights/yellow side markers or just the angel eyes when headlights are not necessary. And of course the DRL has to be enabled in idrive.

Cheers rh71.

So where in i-drive do I find it? I thought I had taken a pretty exhaustive tour when I first bought the car and dont remember that option.

should be:
I (center option) --> settings --> vehicle/tires --> lighting

Hi rh71,
In your avatar, how do you make the "inner light" (the light next to
the HID light) on? Did you retrofit it or put additional light source in it?

I never see the "inner light" on, I just see a "ring of light".

ps. Sorry for my poor English. May be you need to "guess" what I am talking about.
