I contacted Carbotech to see if they can make some pads for us E70 owners. I am looking into a possible group buy. I will post my findings.

Hi,

Just remember the front pads for the 348mm x 30mm rotored X5's, the blanks are hard to come by. CarboTech had trouble getting them and the only way I got a set built was to supply a oem pad set they could bond there material too!

Maybe if they had an order for 10 or more they might be able to get the blanks, otherwise you need to get some old sets off a BMW dealer or send them your front set off your X5.

Yes this is correct. I will have blanks laser cut to OEM specifications with CarboTech. Just waiting to hear who may be interested and pricing info. I will need 15 interested members to have this done.

I think you should get rid of the black protection film on the side step and the rear bumper. They're not functional and don't make it look better.

My wife actually uses the side steps to get in & out of the X5 when she has a tight skirt on, if I take off the black protection strip I am afraid the paint work will get damaged!

I thought I would give a report on how my Carbotech Brake Pads were going. If you read thru my thread you will realise I put a ceramic type pad on my standard X5 BMW calipers.

Well its been 21 months & 41,000km and everything is running fine, I have no brake noise or shudder and my rotors have minimal wear. The best part is I don't get that black brake dust and only need to clean my wheels every couple of weeks.

My BMW dealer has kept an eye on my rotors and is quite impressed.

My daughter has just picked up her new 2011 3 Series White 330d Coupe and on delivery we painted the calipers red and installed Carbotech Pads as well. I also painted the Wheels & Hubs in black gloss and ///M sticks on the calipers, looks great.

I would say putting ceramic based pads on our BMW's is one of the best mods we have come across. it is not hard to organise and the pads in most cases are cheaper than the oem pads from BMW.

I believe Carbotech now has the brake pads in stock as a standard part number, give them a call?
