iPhone

I have been told by my dealer that there is not an adaptor plate for the iPhone here in Australia, is that true? How does the iPhone work on the X5 phone system as I believe the iPhone does not have bluetooth.

The iPhone does indeed have bluetooth, and it works well with the X5.

iPhone works fine as it does have bluetooth and is compatible with BMW integration. Its just for some insane reason BMW do not offer the full integrated cradle. You just use bluetooth and if you have usb you can use the special cable to use the ipod features too.

So ipod cable charges the iphone but its not as tidy as a snap in cradle that does it all...

Cheers

I have the iPhone 3G snapin cradle and it works fine and charges the iPhone at the same time, although you cannot use the iPod part of the iPhone thru the cradle.

The snap in cradle is BMW part number 84.21.2.151.038 ?

But I would not buy anything from BMW dealres in Australia.. they are a rip off.. just got charged $125 for wiper blades.

Is this snap in cradle the unit that goes in the armrest for charging? How much have people been charged for it? Can you get it anywhere other than BMW?

aussiex5,

Yes, this is the snap-in adapter, eject box and frame that goes into the center console.

Not sure if you're asking about the iPhone or iPhone 3G. Those would be different snap-in adapters. This is what you need for iPhone 3G in E70:

84109141375 Eject Box $100
51166971037 Frame $60
84212151038 iPhone 3G snap-in adapter $111
07149144003 Torx bolts (2) $1

ECS Tuning, a board sponsor, appears to have the full package for $250. Shipping may be expensive for you though.

Will the $250 iPHONE adapter work with my iphone? My E70 does not equipped with iphone/ipod intergration kit option and premium sound package. Now, I am only using the Aux connect to my iphone for listening music but the problem is I cannot control through the steering wheel or idrive interface. If that $250 iPhone adpater support it?

Thanks.
