There are several very strict details that would leave you out this time. The main one being that BMW CCA must receive your application within 60 days of delivery - with no exceptions.

"Q: What if my application is slightly beyond the 60 day point?

A: The rebate will be denied as no exceptions can be made to the terms and conditions of this program."

More details are on the BMW CCA web site. You may need to be a BMW CCA memeber and login to read this page.

Sorry I can't answer your question. As it turned out, the build number I got shifted from early Sept to early Aug when the "Priority" changed from 4 to 1. AFAIK this priority change happened as soon as we signed the PO and the dealer submitted the changes to the build to BMW NA. IOW as soon as the "build number" priority went from 'maybe' to "Customer sold"

FWIW the BMW NA site still lists the previous details (e.g the wrong color, options, etc.). But I have a print out of what the dealer sees, which shows the correct details.

Hi All, first post as member, and new owner (July 4th) of 2009 X5 35d. 127 miles on the odo; however, 80 of the miles were mine (3 detailed test drives)!

Tried to hold out for the 2010, but dealer called with $6,700 off MSRP, resulted $1,800 below dealer invoice. Well optioned, with the exception of comfort seats (missed these from previous 2002 530i) and HUD. HUD was just a neat want, but really wanted the comfort seats, but for the price...

Don't know how or if the $4,500 discount was worked in but I'm happy with the deal and happy to be back in the BMW family (previous 1997 328i and 2001 530i).

Built to order X5d $4000 under invoice including the $4500 for July.

I've been wondering, aren't the next years X5's normally "orderable" in Aug? If so, would I be able to score $4500 off a 2010?

Interestingly enough, the program doesn't specify 2009 X5's or 3'ers:

"Now through August 31, BMW will give you a $4,500 Eco Credit toward your purchase of a 335d or an X5 xDrive35d - the most fuel-efficient vehicles in their class."

No, my SA thought to check that out himself as the date to order 09's was just a few days away at the time. Delivery must be by 8/31/09, so you have to take what's on the ground.

This is just BMW fessing up to the fact that too many informed customers know about the factory to dealer $4500 and since the X5 retails above 45000 its not eligible for cash for clunkers. So they're now calling that trunk money an "eco incentive". If you would have traded in your 17mpg or less gas guzzling car for a 35d (22mpg) you would be eligible for $4500 rebate courtesy of uncle sam, except for that the x35d MSRP's itself out of the program. Shrewd move if you ask me. Money that they were giving away anyway is now free PR to bolster their green image.

You can order a 2010 diesel X5 as well and still get the $4500 credit as long as you order before August 31st. You get the new iDrive with 2010 models.
