215's Onboard (Phonepics Install4now)

I have been doing a lot of research over the last 4weeks as to what wheels I wanted to get. I considered 20", 21" even aftermarket 22". Staggered vs 4same. 128,214,215,239. I've learned that the 20's are the cheapest route and allows more flexibility and tire options. 22 has limited stag set up. In the end I really wanted a stag set up so here it is:

Only someone familiar with the wheels would know that the 215's only come in 21" but something about the color/finish just gives it away that it's a replica. I guess you get what you pay for.

But if you're happy with it and for a fraction of the cost of the OEM if it doesn't bother you, it's all good!

Most Def on that...I'm not ready to blow 6+K on wheels and tires that would look the same. I'm pretty sure when i drive her, nobody will care or ask if they are reps or not. Cell, they are 21x10.5F and 21x11.5R.

I am planning to pull a trigger on the same set of 215 replica in 20", but in ferric gray finish though. I was looking at the OEM set at the stealer-ship by my place a couple a week ago. After see the quoted price, it was kinda hard to swalllow $6K plus for the OEM set of wheels. I do not think that I make a good decision for spending $6K for the OEM vs. $1800 for the replica set and plus my CEO, wify will not approve that big spending bill.

The bottom line is, if you like what you get and have, that is more important. Just enjoy your new mod...

Post pictures when you have her new shoes. Good choice and decision

I like them in "gray", too.

$6Gs for oe wheels?! Wonder what the gross margin
is on those babies?!

I wonder what the profit is also as about a month ago I was @ a dealer (Gallery in Norwell) and they had in the showroom an OEM 21" set of 215's in black w/ tires & the pressure monitors for $2,500 I think it was. I asked what's wrong w/ them & they said it was overstock, that they had them for over 6mos so marked them down to get rid of them.

Re: replicas vs. OEM. Even the road-force balance guy scratched my rims. It's just not worth spending so much money on something like this only to have it scratched by guys who will service your car. Spending $100+ to repair the scratch only to have the next guy maybe do it again is also not worthwhile. It's really frustrating that you have so little control over a car you keep so well otherwise. I've given up on keeping perfect rims.

If over time it gets damaged enough that it looks glaringly bad, I could spend the $250 to get a new one. That or learn to do the repairs myself involving sandpaper, putty, and paint of course.

I'll second you on that, the rims are tough to work with when replacement tires are fitted, and very easy to scratch, also flying debris tend to cause chips. BUT they look great and are easy to clean. If I had to do this again though, I would probably stick to 20" and not go to 21".
