What are BMW Indy Shops?

I've seen this around in the forums, just wondering what they are.

independent repair shops where people go
instead of the dealer to get their BMW fixed

Thanks!

I kept thinking "indy" as in "indy racing".

Btw, does anyone know of a good BMW Indy shop around Walnut/Diamond Bar, CA?

The best place to look is BIMRS - Independent BMW Service on Planet Earth It is the defacto for finding good BMW shops that are not dealers

That list above is ok, imo...but leaves out a couple of very good BMW oriented Indy shops, imo.

To the OP: I'd GOOG "BMW repair shops", in your area and,
also walk up to any BMW/PCar owner and ask where they get
their work done, (skipping Biff & Buffy parked in front of the
"Nails Done" shop ).

Also, if you are a member of BMW CCA, their local monthly
rag for your area, will have Indie ads.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah. My wife's 3 series is about to run out of it's extended warranty and I just haven't had very positive experience with dealers when it's my turn to flip the bill.

mtech8,

I know this one place called BMW Specialist Shop locating on Beach and Warner, in Huntington Beach area...may be it is a little far for you. The mechanic used to work at Irvine BMW Dealer. Check it out if you can...
