Rear Bumper Upgrade - Black to Painted - Can it be done?

Has anyone updated a pre-painted black rear bumper to the new 2011-2013 painted bumper? I have a 09 35d I would like to put the new bumper on.

Yes, you can swap the rear bumper with the addition of a few other small parts. The question is why would you want to?

I personally dislike the sea of black plastic that is currently the rear bumper. If I wanted an Avalanche I would have bought that instead! Also, after searching for information on the subject I also discovered my clips are broken on the top as mentioned in other posts. Now that I messed with it the bumper gets caught on the tailgate.

Avalanche eh?

Should be easy enough to swap. Once you take the bumper cover off, you will see. Check out realoem.com to see the parts you need.

Yes, i can be done. You need a new rear bumper cover, and a few extra parts to attach to the bumper. Body shop need to remove the rear fenders, just above the bumper cover, no need for new connectors, or wiring hardness. This is the link, these guys have the lowest prices.

Yeah, and I dislike the tendency of people to paint everything body-colored paint- bumpers, fender flares, running boards, lower trim, etc, etc. It tends to make the car look less visually interesting, and creates a hulking, bloated feeling.

Just personal opinion. One thing i disliked going from the 10 to the 12.
