Winshield wiper not hitting windshield

Right under the clip? in the center of the wiper. It just started this morning after clearing off the snow. I looked at both the driver and passenger side, I can't see anything different on the two. The passenger side works fine, of course the driver's side is the problem, right in my line of view.

Is there something I can do to fix it without chipping my nails? Or do I just swing by the dealer and have them do it?

Thanks

Sure you don't have a bit of ice in there, preventing the blade from flexing down? Life the blade/arm about 3-4 inches above the windshield and let it snap down... see if that loosens it up.

HEY....I'm not blonde ROFL!

Just you Penguin.

That's what I thought at first this morning but upon inspection at 3 this afternoon, there is no ice, no debris, nothing on the blade that would cause it not to hit...

I only have 4000 miles, they were fine until this morning. I cleaned the ice off them the way Penguin said and since then it doesn't touch

Just for you I went out to take a look and confirm. Under/inside the wiper arm there is a large spring which holds the blade to the window. If it gets some ice in between the coils of the spring, as it might when you lifted the arm and stretched the spring, it could prevent it from pressing the blade to the glass. Pull the blade to the upright position and feel under the arm for ice in the spring coils. Lifting it up and down a few times "might" loosen any ice.

It is above freezing here, and even without the ice and snow, the blades are not doing a good job of wiping. I will have a look but I think the blades are kaput.

I thought I inspected it pretty good and the temperature went up to almost 40 today. I also parked in the sun to melt any leftover ice. I'll check the spring in the morning.

Thank you
