door handle LEDs staying on

I just went to take out the garbage and all 4 of my door handle ambient lights were on, low power, but on. My alarm was armed and doors locked.

The normal 2 dots on each door light that are supposed to come on when opening/closing are staying in some kind of low power mode. I've tried unlocking (brightens the lights) then relocking (returns to dim instead of off). Also started the engine and while driving it stayed on in the low power - that's not normal either. When I close & lock it like usual (comfort access) it goes right back to the low light mode. Remote's lock button doesn't help. No idrive errors or warnings.

I bet I will have a dead battery in the morning... Anyone know how to pull the battery? Hopefully they take walk-ins at the dealer tomorrow...

EDIT>> well it's morning and the battery is still good but the lights are still all on. I just noticed that my moonroof cover - the one that slides back and forth, was at the halfway position rather than being fully back like I always have it. Nobody else has access to the car... some electrical gremlin got to it in the PM hours last night...

This is the exterier door handle white LED (puddle) light you're referring to right? Hmmm... the idrive menu has this light (call courtesy light) menu which controls the length this light should stay on (default is 40 seconds). Why don't you play with that and change the settings a bit to see if anything improves. good luck.

^ I've already set that to off or 0. Welcome light or pathway light... well all of them I've turned off to be sure. Still no dice... it's at the dealer right now.

oh yeah... it was called pathway light... let us know how it goes and what was the root cause. Did you see a High batter drain message the next day?

I thought pathway light and the time delay was for your headlights.....when you shut the car off and pull back on the high beam stalk the headlights stay on for the time set on the menu for you to walk down a dark pathway in light......when i walk out and unlock the car my lights come on but the halo's only stay on for a few seconds (interior for the welcome light time....)..very interested to hear what's up....hope mine's nto doing it right now as I've been away for a month and it's just sitting at home alone!!!

The door lights aren't an option in idrive... I was just making sure nothing was affecting it by zeroing those options anyway.

Got the car back and they did a "battery reset". How... I wish I knew.

As I was leaving there was another white X5 in the hub. No aero kit and stock 19" wheels. As mine got pulled in for me, the valet tells me "looks nice". Well, at least the chick who owned that other white X5 "looked nice" too.
