Strong Hail....no damage

We just had a somewhat strong/large hail here in NJ. Up to golf ball-sized ice balls in some areas, around 0.5 - 0.75" where my X was parked. It lasted for 3-4 minutes, and I was surprised to see no damage at all. Will do another examination of the body tomorrow just to make sure I am not dreaming....

I had hail as well here in Rockland County tonight. However, I do not have my X, its in the shop getting some work done it, so the X5 loaner gets the abuse.....sorry dealer...

Hope your X5 is ok...

I heard it needs to be baseball sized to do any real damage to any cars...

We had hail back in 2003 (?) around 3/4-1" in size, and did damage my wife's Grand Cherokee.

Not true. I had quarter sized hail create major dents on my E60. Overall I had 23 dents. The insurance company paid over $5K to have all of them fixed.

I remember the Nissan problem. It was thousands of cars. We were offered those cars at significant discounts (my dealership represents Nissan Forklifts.) We passed on that deal.

It's funny seeing people in the Northeast freak about a little hail storm. Considering I went to KU and live in Dallas--both of which are in Tornado Alley--hail is pretty normal here. We actually had a freak incident a month ago (we don't ever get severe weather in the summer) and had a small disturbance with a few clouds with golf ball size hail that affected only near downtown. A buddy of mine that has an '06 3 Series had no damage but a friend about 1/2 mile away she had to file a claim (she has an Infiniti M35). I think German cars have pretty good metal.
