Red face My X called the dealer yesterday....

said it needed service. So off it went...one year old 11,245 miles. We'll see how it goes..my SA was less than educated and helpfull..I asked him how the key gets the information on it as I have comfort access (I did put the key in ignition before I shut the car off just to be sure) and he commented that I needed to put the key in to recharge it..I explained that this was not the case and he told me I was wrong......idiot. I also asked about the transission update and he looked at me like I was speaking greek...I gave up and just said the car shifted poorly and could they look at it.

I was planning on just coming back later to pick it up, but was told they would need the car for three or four days.......so now i've got a brand new (108 miles) 2009 328.....wish I had my iPod adapter cord 'cause SAT isn't active and I'm too spoiled to listed to regular radio.....

The good news is the service manager is a co-workers neighbor whom I've met many times and he came over to say hello..hopefully that will be the only time I need to talk to him.

I got a loaner 3 series about a week ago...(which was a miracle in the first place) and the first thing I thought to myself when I got in was...How in the heck do people drive these things?? My frickin' bathtub is probably bigger, although it doesn't have wheels! I could probably stretch my arm and open the passenger door without even leaning over!

I've been driving an SUV since I was 16 and there's no way I'd go back to a regular passenger vehicle full time.

I got a 328 coupe once and a sedan loaner also. The coupe was way small and don't know how people spend so much on it. It's really a 2 seater. It does have its looks going for it though.

the fivers are quite nice ya'll. i had a 530i loaner recently. a little under powered but a nice car all the same.

i also had a loaner 335i recently. i didn't see the reasoning behind the hype. of course it was an auto and non sport package. but i was not impressed. tin can. or a bathtub with wheels. i like that analogy.

So, got a call from my SA last nighty...car was being re-programmed overnight, then they were going to look at the sunroof (the day I took delivery it broke in the tilt position and they scratched the car fixing it..it broke again later that day when I was showing my co-workers my new ride...never touched it since then)...he said it made a loud noise and jammed, then worked perfectly...tells me they're going to take the whole assembly out of the truck to figure out WTF is going on....lookslike I'm still driving my loaner for a while....good news is he's putting on new wiper blades for me ...what a bonus!!!

I'm from the E53 forum, thinking about getting an E70...there is only one BMW dealership in town, and the service is horrendous. If you want a loaner it will be $15 a day...and they never return your calls and they always seem to lose your appointment for service when you make one online...just terrible...anyways....getting away from my tangent...I have driven a 645i on loan and i must say...if I was to get rid of my X, and have a crisis, that would be the one...

Update...

So after a week I got the car back..SA called me and asked if it was OK for them to detail it (They run them through a car wash here unless you say no - like I did)...as they had to remove the sunroof cassette and fix the roof for me, the car was "covered in greasy fingerprints)...picked up the car at 3pm, I was actually impressed with how good it looked (but now after the rain I can tell they used a "Quick Detail Wax" as water no longer beads up as well as it did before it went in).

Transmission update made a HUGE difference...It drives wonderfully so far, none of the annoying shift issues from before.

The only two issues I have are related to the stereo...I knew I'd loose all my presets with the software update, but the sound quality has changed..even after playing with the EQ and all the settings it's almost like the subwoofers are no longer working at the same level..Also, when my iPod is hooked up and on shuffle (i always just leave it the armrest) the whole list of music on the iPod shows up and the song playing is mixed in the alphabetical list..not like before when just that songs details showed up...sometimes it works right, other times - not so much...

Anybody else see this?
