Finally ordered a 35d

After waiting 2 years (first for the diesel, then the new iDrive), I finally ordered a 2010 3.5d. It should be built in October and I'm leaning toward factory delivery:

Space Gray / black interior
Adaptive Drive (now a $3,500 option)
Comfort
Roof Rails (now $100 option)
3rd row
HUD
Sat
ipod adapter
smart phone integration
Sports package
Premium Package
Premium Sound
Rear Climate
Tech package

I think the new gut chuck for American X5 buyers is Adaptive Drive since it is no loner part of the Sports Package. Adapative drive $3,500 sticker, and supposedly $3,185 invoice, with the Sports package sticker at $2,200. I bit this expensive bullet (among others) because handling is on of the primary reasons I buy a BMW, but yikes it is not cheap and I think many folks will take a pass.

I also plan to replace the wheels with 20" 214 Y spokes.

Mine's similar:

Space Gray/Saddle Brown/Dark Bamboo
Premium
Premium Sound
Cold Weather
Rear Climate
Tech
Sports
3rd row seat
Comfort Access
ipod adapter
Sirius
Roof Rails
Running Boards

I decided to pass on HUD, adaptive drive, Nappa leather and comfort seats - all of which my '07 4.8 has. The HUD was cool for a couple of weeks but I can't see it with polarized sunglasses so it's useless half of the time. I would have gone for Nappa leather if it had been available in Saddle.

As for Adaptive Drive, I couldn't really discern much of a difference on my current X5 so I decided to pass. I have 21" OEM 239s that I will use for the summer.

I saved some over the one I have although I added Premium Sound. I am looking forward to the new iDrive, autotailgate and back-up camera (even if it isn't perfect).

Ah, good point. I will make sure to be sure to use my nonpolarzied glasses in the X5 for the HUD. While I could live with the sports seats, my wife really preferred the comfort seats, and it will be be her car, so. . . .

I hope someone at BMW had enough sense to improve the backup camera, but I'm not holding my breath. If not, surely there some smart
entrepreneur or company is out who will offer everyone a fix for the OEM version.

I hear you. My wife, who drives it sometimes, loves the comfort seats but hates the HUD (she turns it off). I just couldn't justify the cost of the comfort seats since the major difference is the neck pads and decreased bolsters.

We'll see about the back-up camera. I had a Lexus with it before the X5, which worked quite well, but have lived without it for a while now so any camera might be better than none. I wish there was more info on Top View.

Is it true that the Saddle leather comes with a darker colored roof (inside)?

The sports pkg comes with the Anthracite Roofliner which is the option that color matches with the dash...is that what you are looking for?

What are you guys getting for a confirmation that you will get the $4500 incentive money, I have heard talk of it having a 90 or 120 expiration which shouldn't be a problem. Just curious.

When you order an X5 to be built to your specs you sign a Purchase Order with the exact pricing including any incentives, etc.

I've been told that the car needs to be signed for by Aug 31 and delivered within 60 days. I tried to extend the delivery date but the dealership was told that this was not possible.
