It looks like the Eco Credit has been extended to 11/2/09.

I received an email from my sales guy this evening, my order has been received and the Eco Credit is attached to my order which is a bit of a relief after all the rumors I have been reading.

Interesting wording though. On the BMWUSA site they seem to have added the word "Final" before "Purchase" in context of the 11/02 date. I wonder if this means one must take delivery of, or at least pay for the vehicle, by 11/02 to get the credit?

P.S. Interesting news item:

"Eco Credit is a $4,500 credit against the MSRP of the final purchase of the 335d and X5 xDrive35d Advanced Diesel through 11/02/2009."

BMW North America
credit against MSRP... I don't like the way that sounds.

Yeah, I though that sounded a bit odd as well, but I think it just is awkward wording to mean that you don't get a rebate check, and that whatever price you agree with the dealer is the price you pay.

Uhm.. Edmunds.com is saying that the eco-credit is a Manufacturer to Dealer Marketing Support. It's to be used in conjunction with Lease, OwnersChoice, Retail Finance or Select contracts. Does this mean "CASH" customers don't get the credit?

Is this something different from the previous $4500 credit that was suppose to end on 08-31-09?

Hi Ken,

I see you're also from the Bay Area. Which dealer did you order your X35d from?
I ordered mine from Fremont BMW a week ago, but still no confirmation if it's been accepted by BMW.

That "eco-credit" $4500 is the same $4500 BMWNA was offering dealers as trunk money back in June-July, now rebadged as green money.
It's $4500 off of whatever price you negotiate with the dealer, MSRP, invoice plus X or what ever. Up to the dealer if he wants to give it to you.
If not, I'd walk.
Dealer sells the car, BMWNA pays the dealer $4500 (plus an incentive percentage - holdback, basically - if the dealership qualifies).
It's free PR for BMW for money they were giving away anyway.

It looks like financing rates have not changed. Still 5.9% on an X5d if you finance (like me). I was hoping for lower, but I guess I can't have my cake and eat it, too. Maybe my order will arrive after 11/2 and the finance rates will be lower...

Alas, it's still better to go through my bank.
