Re-Importing A Previously Exported Vehicle (warranty)
I spoke with a customer service representative at BMWUSA who stated that the warrantly should be valid subject to the inspection of an authorized BMW service center in the US. The only work I had done overseas was by the authorized BMW dealership (and it was nothing major). Has anyone re-imported their X5? Any stories? Any reason why my warranty would be void? My plan is to take the car into the dealership and not say anything (I have that front end suspension noise coming from the front of the car when I go over bumps. . . kind of like hollow inner tube being hit with a stick). Thanks for your help/comments. |

How would your dealer even know the vehicle's been out of the country?
Especially if you haven't had anything done to it! I could see if you brought it into Canada for e.g. you would have to get a few things re-programmed like daytime running lights, and change the cluster to km/hr etc. Then for sure they would know...

The dealer sold me the car with the MSO. It was never titled or registered in the US; however, they have no idea that it ever left the country. . . so I see your point. Just want to make sure. Thanks.

Nah, you're okay! It's not like the dealer is going to check the title or registration before booking your service appointment...
