Help what? Are you referring to the initial non-response / lag? No, it does not. Most BMWs have that now... it's a feature.

The worst is when just after slowing down you hit the gas relatively hard... nearly nothing for a full second or two. This is very dangerous if you don't expect it.

My car has been in the dealer for a week getting the tranny reprogrammed. Problem is that they are having difficulty downloading the new programs from BMW AG into the car. I hope the car drives differently after this wait.

I have the exact same problem! The dealer tried to reprogram my car, but couldn't since I have done some custom programming using Autologic.

Yes, that is exactly what I am talking about. I just traded a 2005 for 2008 and there is a huge difference in throttle response (the 2005 is much better). I've gotten use to the initial response, but the slow down/hit the throttle lag, that is where I really notice it. I hope I get use to it.

I have a 2008 335i with the same hesitation. I am convinced it is the transmission and not the turbo's or otherwise. There is a lot of talk from other's about it as well all over the E90 boards.

The car hesitation seems to start, from a stop, in second gear. It goes away when the automatic transmission is in sport mode. I either forgot about it, adapted to it or its gotten better as I did not think of it until reading this post.

I've noticed I tend to "juice" the gas pedal a little more in the X5 so the problem has gone away. If I drive another car, I notice it jumps because of how I have learned to drive the X5.

So no, no real issues with lag for me. And as another poster noted, switch to sport mode and the thing takes off very quickly.

There are other car manufacturers having similar issues. I can't help but wonder if the drive to add gears and increase gas mileage is part of the problem.

Hmm.... strange... I have a 3.0 SD and this is happening to me since day one but I always thought that this is turbo lag... but i have the feeling its also happening is DS or even in Manual mode.. especially with second gear when car is rolling and i step on pedal hard the lag is very obvious!

I dont have sports mode, so can't even try. My dealer confirmed that the car needs to be reprogrammed. Has anyone got their car reprogrammed for this specific issue?

I think when we are referring to sport mode we mean the D/S mode on the transmission and not the sport button... Correct?
