Just called BMW 1-800 number and got this news:

"Your vechicle is in the body shop & completes Oct. 1"

Placed order on August 17th.

2010 X5 35d
White w/ black nevada
Sport

Congrats!

I'm a little shocked though since I thought they were suppose to start production on Oct 9th (ish)...this is good news all around!

Good luck with the wait! I agree with the case of beer approach

Exactly! I know when mine finally went to "in production", I was a maniac until it got here--but that was a while back. Looking forward to doing it again for MY 2011!
