Trying to locate 12v power from Cigarette lighter
I found a post from one of the member "M3Armand" about getting power from 12v Cigarette lighter and hope you do not mind stealing your picture ^,^. Does anyone know that the white connector (picture shown) is the connection for cigarette lighter? If that is the case, i just need to find the "hot" wire from one of the three wires. I am tying to hardwire "ACC" 12v power and this way will not drain power when I shut off the car. Also, I was wondering if Cigarette lighter would be good clean and safe for ACC 12v power? Or using Fuse tap like "Add a circuit" to one of the existing fuse from fuse box for getting ACC 12v power better? Thanks. Last edited by us_matrix; 10-07-2009 at 06:46 PM. |

I did not do mine via the cigarette lighter. I ended up going through the wiring in the overhead console, as it is a great switched power source, and you don't have to run wires up the A pillar or anything. Try a search on that and see what yo ufind. I don't remember which one to tap into, but if you search on here, you will find it. Never had a fault on mine ever.

It's the green and white wire in the overhead. Do a search on "valentine" in the E70 forum.

Thanks but I am not trying to mount a radar. I am trying to put an aftermarket video interface in glove box and wnat to find out if the white connector in the picture is the 12v cigarette lighter power source but also consider doing fuse tap in fuse box if anyone know how does it work.

Looks like the correct one, I did not have to unplug mine, just used a t-tap.
Check this post for more details, post #14 from Denalio. I found it very helpful. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...tor-e70-2.html Here is my tap image, not the best but you get the idea: |

I am sure you can tap into a power source behind the glovebox. There's got to be a connector back there for plugging in the CD/DVD changer in the glovebox...
