Bi-Xenon with adaptive headlights
My E70 has xenon with adaptive headlights. Just noticed last week when parked in front of a glass door that only the outside xenons are on at both low and high beam. Only difference is there seems to be a reflector that angles the beam up when the beam is on high. Are the inside lamps supposed to come on at all? |

I don't think so. It used to be that the inner lights were for halogen flash-to-pass, but BMW has begun phasing this out. The newer xenons are capable of illuminating fast enough to act as flash-to-pass.

Thanks. That's good to know. I was beginning to think that I had dodgy lights.
![]() I am surprised they still left the inside lens on when they could have blanked it off. The lens make it look like it should be working. |

Aren't the inner lights used for DRL ? I have mine off since DRL is not needed here in the US, but just a thought ?

DRL? I've never considered that because it isn't needed here in Ireland and the UK as well. Will try it out later and see if I'll finally be able to light up those inner lamps.

DRL's look nice during the day .. especially if you replace them with a MTEC 4750k + or equivalent bulb....
