idrive screen completely dark

It's happened twice in the last week now. I startup the car but the idrive screen is dark. I think it's off completely and malfunctioning but upon further inspection, the screen still functions because I can [barely] see it as I navigate the controls. The next time I start the car it is fine again. Not a brightness-saved setting as I only use 1 keyfob. Happen to anyone else?

3rd time it has happened, this morning. I put a flashlight to the screen so I can see and navigate to the brightness setting... put it all the way up, doesn't change it back to normal. I choose display off, it goes off completely, hit a button to turn it back on and it comes back dark.

I shut the car off, turn it back on immediately and it's normal again.

Next time it happens, reset the system by pressing the 2 eject buttons and the Volume button all at the same time. Unfortunately this happens to me quite regularly It's a known issue.

Cheers

Just happened to me this morning for the first time (I had just picked the car up yesterday evening after a new windshield installation- $1200). Didn't know if they were related, but I did the three-button push and hold for 5 seconds and it worked. (First I took out the navigation DVD as per service advisor.)

Note, to reboot idrive, you just need to press the CD eject button and the volume button for about 10 secs.

It happens in mine too. I just turn off the vehicle and when I restart it, the screen is on again.

I'll try the eject buttons in the future.

Mine just said it was an electrical glitch/gremlin. Sine it has only happened once, I'll wait and see.
