Technology Package

I just saw the new I-Drive and Nav on a new 7 series and was mightily impressed. Admitting to myself that there was a certain wow factor involved there, because my 2004 X3 doesn't have Nav, I have a small window of opportunity to change my 35d order before it goes into production. Is the Technology Package worth the $?

the way i look at it (and it's prob. unorthodox) is like this..

unlike the 3 series, if you dont get the technology package in the X5, you'll still have that screen (smaller) to look at. If it was me, I'd be constantly reminded of what couldv'e been there and probably be upset that I didnt spend the money.

I agree.. I waited for 6 months specifically just to get the new version of iDrive - but that's me, I am a techno geek, my wife probably wouldn't care less . And if anything it's the Premium Package that is standing on thin legs value wise, IMHO. I still got it because it has the few things that you can't get otherwise and it would be stupid not to have... but when you look at what is in it, versus how much they charge... I just keep hearing the hogs...

To me the answer was simple. If you have kids, you gotta have a rear view camera. and that's the only way of getting it. Nav is a bonus. I think the price for the tech package is about right at $2k if you compare to other OEM options. Requirement to get a premium package is a bummer, since its full with useless stuff. You could order tech without premium in 2009, but not anymore. If money is an object, you can get a comparable stand alone unit for a couple of hundred bucks. You gain in functionality (portable), but loose in convenience and aesthetics.

+1

Tech is goooooooood.

The iDrive is much faster...I only used the backup cam once today, still getting used to it. But the controller is much more user friendly.
