I would think they are going to stop making discs this year because the new idrive nav will be non dvd (hard drive?)

How will they sell you the updates then?

P.S. The new hard drive system still uses a DVD to load the Nav data to the hard disc, sort of like a home computer.

Quicksilver will become famous soon enoughQuicksilver will become famous soon enough
What about the millions of other drivers who
still need them? Doesn't seem reasonable
to stop making discs "this year".

You can check with navteq directly. That's what I have done in the past. They have a website and I was able to contact their customer service through that. Typically they do two per year - for example a 2009.1 and a 2009.2.

And no, i would not worry about them no longer making them, that doesn't seem reasonable. Plus they still make the old school CD set for the BMW GPS systems that predated the one DVD system.

He's right. navteq updates the map quarterly, but BMW only has DVDs pressed twice a year. navigation.com is still selling 2009.1, but i would expect 2010.1 to be out shortly.

unfortunately this seems to have more to do with BMW than the map supplier.
