Received 2010 X35d Sport today

Yes, the new I-drive is sweet. Yes, we love it. My wife "got it" with almost no instructions and our salesman was as excited as we were to try it out.

One note: we had ordered with bamboo interior and, it came with walnut. This wasn't a deal breaker for us and if it had been, we were told that we might be looking at February.

We were also told that a 335i arrived this week with Walnut while bamboo was ordered so this MAY be a trend.

I'm only passing this along so that if you've ordered bamboo, you might steel yourself for having walnut arriving . . . .

Yes, I'm also disappointed in all the lighting so I've been spending the hours switching out all of the lights for 6000k interior and exterior lighting (many threads on this).

Beyond that, today was a fantastic day!

Hang in there everyone else - your dream rides are about to arrive!

That's great you got the 2010 X5 35d!
I got the bamboo and I find it looks darker and richer than the other wood trims.
I actually ordered bamboo.

You both should enjoy your new ride.

Grats!

I also ordered bamboo, all I can say is - my wife will have a fit right there in the showroom. I guess it will be good for an additional discount

Congrats. I think you're the first member to take delivery of the 2010 35d.

The other guys waiting on their 35ds must be foaming at the mouth. It won't be long now...

I would also be FURIOUS if I didn't get the bamboo as ordered. I stayed on top of my order thorough the Vehicle Inquiry Report from my CA over the course of the build. I actually had an issue on my last order (2005 545i) where it was ordered with grey poplar and during the build we noticed it was dark poplar. At the time we were able to switch to another allocation further back and properly change it.

Glad to hear you're satisfied despite the mix-up and, congrats and good luck!

While I am often a critic of BMW NA, I must say that my experience has been that in the vast majority of cases, when a vehicle shows-up "other than ordered," it is usually the ordering dealer's fault, not the factory. Was you option mix/trim showing-up correctly on the BMWUSA.com website as it was being built?

If I got a vehicle with the wrong trim, I'd make the dealer replace it with the proper trim parts before taking delivery. It can't be more than a couple hours' labour and $600-700 in parts.
