Fog Light Replacement for X5d

I tried to change the fog light on my X5d by following this DIY

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...mw-x5-e70.html

But when I popped the plastic trim piece open on the passenger side, there's something behind it that prevents me from accessing the light assembly. Haven't tried the driver's side yet. Is this something unique for the diesel model? Looks like I might have to through the wheel well to get to the light. Anyone tried this on their X5d? Thanks
