Workers begin blasting at I-40 rock slide :: WRAL.com

Route: I-40 to Knoxville.. If you have time Detour through the Smoky mountians. I was in Gatlinburg in June, so I am bypassing.

I-40 to Knoxville, and then I-75 north to Lexington KY

The place you want to Drive is around Lexington.. plenty of horse farms and old tree lined roads. Old Frankfort Pike from Lexington to Frankfort is the best.

What Route are you thinking of taking?

I really like the saddle leather color, wish they made it in nappa....Thanks for the tips on roads. I haven't spent any time planning a route yet....something I'll have to do in the next couple weeks.

Shoot, forgot about the hitch...I'll have to have the dealer add that later I guess when they do the clear bra.

I went hwy 276 - US64 - Blue Ridge Parkway - US 441 - US70 to Kingston TN - I-40 to Nashville - I26 to Cadiz and then through The Land Between the Lakes on my way back to NE. You'll want to avoid interstates as much as possible on the way home due to the breakin period. Dont go the same speed for extended periods of time. When I had to be on interstates, I changed speeds between 55 and 80 in 5mph increments every 10 miles.

I-40, east & westbound in western NC/eastern TN, is closed for 4+ months.

Really only two ways to get "west", heading up and out of S'burg, SC:
-I-26 north, through the Ashevile roundabout, I-26 north through TN, to I-81: then go to I-40 or I-77, as your direction requires.

-Or, wander out, west & northwest, through the Mtns as GoVols suggested.

If the OP wants some specific roads to run in that westerly direction of PDC, let me know.

Hey, he might as well test out the nav system on the way home.

The twisties on those roads are a lot of fun.
