A few 2007 X5 3.0 questions

Hey guys,

I've been shopping pretty hard the past two weeks for a 2007 X5 to replace my 06 X5 3.0 that was recently deemed a Lemon.

I can not seem to find a used 2007 3.0 with Sport package/navagation with decnet mileage for under 40K. I am considering using a broker to purchase one for me an auction in the Bay Area next week. He found one for me that is pretty loaded with 30K miles; he thinks it well sell at around 36ish.

Seems like a solid buy - any of you had experience with buying a vehicle from a broker via auction??

Also, it does not have a navagation disk - how much does one cost?

No cargo cover -

One rim has some major curb scrapes - what does a new rim run on an 07 X5?

I'm thinking if I can get it for 36K, spend a grand to recitfy all these issues, then It'd still be a deal?

Thoughts? I am just having a really tough time finding a good 07 with the sport/nav combo at a decent price.

Thanks Smokey

Based on my current experience trying to trade my 2008 with 30K miles, I'm guessing your broker is making a few bucks off you. $36K with a little work needed sounds high to me for a 2007.

I would be cautious about buying off an auction myself.

nav disc is $100 from the dealer I believe - just about the same from navteq themself. Kinda crazy either way.

Also beware '07s may have quality control issues like creaks and rattles. I doubt you can test drive it first from an auction though.

I bought an 07 4.8 at an auction last Dec. and paid around $42K plus auction fee(3%) and $700 cash to the guy that bought it for me. It has most options, tech package, sport, climate, 20" wheels etc. I was at the auction and looked very briefly at the car before I gave the ok to bid. I lucked out and got a great car with only 12K miles. This is the only way I will ever buy a car again. No dealers and dealer mark-ups. I do have to admit that it could have gone the other way and I could have gotten a lemon, but with 2 1/2 years of warranty left, I figure it was worth the risk.

My '07 build here (3.0d) and I've had no more issues than an '08 build
