importing music via USB in glovebox?

I copied a bunch of music onto a thumb drive and plugged it into the USB port in glove box but I couldn't find out how to copy it to the hard drive. When I plug it into the USB port in the center console it allows me to browse and play the audio, but again no way to copy it to the car itself..

Anyone point me in the right direction without me spending all day trying to figure this out.

What has worked for you all?

Page 178-181 of your owners manual, particularity page 179 under "Storing from a USB Device."

Right. I had read that. But I would think that it should show up when I plug into USB port in glove box. It's not, but it does work in center console USB port.

There are other files on USB stick. I wonder if that matters?

In my 7 series. the USB port in the glove box only appears to serve the purpose of storing or copying the Driver's profiles to/from USB.
