NOTE: The 2010 credit is not yet posted in the IRS site.. BMW has it at $900 on the recently updated BYO.. Why Did BMW change it? They are certainly NOT in the [phase out ..

I have been watching the IRS for the official release

I would have thought that with the eco-credit the sales would have picked up a lot more...
EDIT: We'll I guess it is like a 50% jump from Q2 to Q3!

I'm also surprised considering BMW sold 1393 X5s in September alone (but down from 2316 last year -- ouch).

For the quarter:

July: 1871
August: 2295
September: 1393

Total: 5559

Diesel count: 485
% of sales: 8.7%

Granted BMW has had a low inventory available for diesels, but that still really low.

When a diesel engine was first introduced to the X5 in Australia (3.0d in 2003) it took a while to catch on but now diesels (combined 30d and 35d) account for 80% of X5 sales. This is against a background where only 10% of new passenger cars and SUVs sold in Australia are diesel powered.

yeh
I must say though, I've been suprised at the reception to the 35d on this forum (my only view into the US customer base) and the number of threads popping up from people ordering/taking delivery of them

pretty cool
