my E70 won't start eeeeek

In the morning usually or cold, my car would take a few tries for it to turn over and start. I brought it in to get it fixed last week, however they told me it was b/c of my aftermarket subwoofers. so then i had to pay $9XX, they told me they replaced the battery and some overly expensive wire.

after taking my car home yesterday, this morning the problem has arisen again. it seemed that they never did fixed anything and replaced something that wasn't bad in the first place. could it be the starter or something else? so now my car has no subwoofers now and it still struggles to turn over in the cold mornings.

what should i do?

****UPDATE****
The problem was actually the fuel pump and not the battery/wire. This will be covered by warranty. However you can use me as an example of what happen if you install something (aftermarket stereo) and BMW will use it against you to void warranty.

first things first.... make sure that battery is not dying.... get another one in there.... if it persists, the ball is on the dealers court.

How cold are we talking about? Seems like it can't be that bad in Dallas where you are. However, if you're in northern canada with subartic temperatures, I can understand as there have been reported problems at certain temperatures.

I would test it when it happens next time to see if the car will start by trying to jump the car. if that doesn't start it, it's not the battery.

It's not that cold to cause problems I didn't think, the temperature lingers around 40-50 degrees in the morning. I'm going back to the stealership tomorrow to see what's up with the car . Hopefully they don't charge me anything that is too ridiculous.

Definitely check the battery first.

Are the amps for your subs still in the car? If the were not hooked up properly they could be putting a small but continuous draw on the battery.

In my experience, with an older battery 40 degrees is enough to have an effect.

You can also see if a pep boys, or Batteries Plus type place can test your charging system and your battery.

Do you have comfort access?

Are you keys stored anywhere near the car?

Am I missing something? Didn't the OP say he just got a new battery at the dealer?

If so, I doubt the battery is the problem.

Let's see what the dealer says on the follow-up visit...

You are correct, still worth testing as they can sit on shelf for a very long time. Next test would be the charging system, could be a bad or underperforming alternator.

yes, new battery... but a week has gone by with the sub still in the X and has just been recently taken out... all it takes is a couple of hours to kill a brand new battery.

re-reading the OP.... $900 for a battery and a cable? something doesnt sound right.... What cable is it? Does it has something to do with the sub? The dealer is either ripping you off or the sub install was a butcher job...
