Setting seat memory

Okay so I put my key in, adjust the seat and steering column, press memory (red led lights up on side of seat) press number 2 to set position.
Next time I get in I press 2 and the seat goes to its position, I put the key in and start it up and the steering column drops to its lowes position, the same has happened to button 1 when my wife sets her position.
Cant think what we are doing wrong unless there is some kind of glitch.
Anyone else having issues?

I'm not sure this will help but... our CA told us that there can be 6 remembered positions for the driver seat. Each key can have 3. The 2 you can set via the buttons on the driver's seat and the "last seat position" by the driver using that key.

Edit: I forgot to mention that you can 'deactivate' the 'last seat position' via iDrive.
