BMW Seal & Protect
BMW Seal & Protect: this is where the BMW dealer (UK) applies a protective coating to the paintwork, and treats the leather and carpets/mats with stain guards etc., with 6-year+ warranty. Not sure what you call it in the USA.
Ok, I know I can 'do it myself' or 'have a valet do it', and find 'better value options'...but my question is: "Is it worth applying the BMW 'Seal & Protect' at all?" Does it help? Will it help me keep the vehicle in better condition at all? What are your experiences?

Not worth it.
Like you stated, there is good aftermarket products such as quality waxes and leather treatments. I would give it a skip |

I can highly recommend "Gtechniq" their products are amazing, would have to be in my view the best sealer on the market right now. Yes these products do help a lot! I had this stuff put on my x5 and it's so easy to keep clean, bugs & brake dust just wipe right off and it's extremely hydrophobic, whenever you wash your car it ends up looking like the day it was bought. I really cant praise this stuff enough but there are other choices out there such as Permagard & Glare however I just found that these products don't last anywhere near as long as the Gtechniq. I have it on mine. What I will say is that is does make cleaning the car a lot easier - dirt appears to shift much better, and I am also impressed that 2.5 years down the line my car has absolutely no swirl marks whatsoever.
It was a bit pricey though I suspect I will go third party next time.

Thanks for feedback. So, BMW charge £299 in the UK, does paint, leather, carpets. I want some protection for the paint (perhaps the rest), so...
1: What alternative 3rd party 'paint protection' solutions should I consider? 2: How much in the UK/USA has it cost you to have a 'valet' detail/apply it? |

1 bottle of Rejex - $18
1 bottle of Mequiars leather protectant - $12 2 hours of your time to apply it. My gut tells me that the service offered by your dealer is much like the old "under body rust protectant" scams back in the day.
