Glove Box CD Changer

I bought a used 2008 X5 with 10K miles a month ago...the DVD changer in the glove box was missing however everything else worked fine. Phone paired fine Sat radio worked great ...all of a sudden I got an error about the SOS not working and nothing worked...The dealer said it's because someone removed the DVD Changer ....they want $3700 to replace it... has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

my SOS crapped out also. nothing to do with the DVD player.

Bulletin # 841707 Hardware Fault in TCU.

TCU was keeping vehicle awake. they replaced the TCU.

if memory serves me, it was mostly just an error message in idrive. but my Sat radio used to lock up and only show 13 channels. Elvis was in the vehicle.

the day i took it in i got the high battery drain message also.

I have a glove box DVD changer I removed from my vehicle, guaranteed in perfect working order, for sale, for a song and dance (literally and figuratively). Removed from vehicle at +/- 10,000 miles, used only one time to test it.

PM if interested.
