Exclamation Dealer says No sensor for passenger seatbelt!?

Since day one, the passenger seatbelt warning has never worked, like the sensor is broken. So I took it to a dealer for the problem and they say that there's no sensor in the seat but it's on the passenger side floor so when someone's seated it would know by the weight of their feet! And that's how the airbag decides if it wants to deploy or not. And there's no alarm even when not fastened. They say it's a more advanced design than a seat alarm. I really doubt their word so I'm taking it to another dealer for a second opinion. What do you think?

Who hires these people? Do you have to be a doorknob and/or a dropout to work for these dealers?? The majority of them have no expertise and yet they have a license to steal. Here print off this diagram and take it back to the same idiot and slap him behind the head!

The front seat sensors are built into the upholstery and can be quite expensive depending on the kind of seats you have. The comfort seat with ventilation being the most expensive option of course! You may just have a loose connection somewhere if you're lucky...otherwise you're out about $500. Should be a warranty item...

I don't know about the airbag sensor on the floor (how much can feet weigh anyway?), but there's definitely a seat sensor... put a gallon of milk on it and it beeped on me for no seat belt.

Whoever told you that crap is retarded.... ther is not nor has ever been a sensor on the floor, and is and always has been a sensor in the seat bottom. (as depicted above)

I'm not sure when the split is, but they didn't put a warning chime for the passengers seat untill the recent year or two... You may have just an early enough production to not have the audible warning.

How about the light on the overhead console? Does that work properly?

Go to the store and get two or three gallons of milk/soda/water; put them on the passenger seat and watch what the display does.

In my X it always indicates that the passenger airbag has been disabled.

I think when I once shopped for a little more than that, it took me a while to figure out why me seatbelt chime kept going off.

30 million comedians out of work and you find a Service Advisor that thinks he's funny. what a moron that SA must be.

find the service manager and tell him his yahoo tried to feed you this line of bullsheist.

so does his explanation mean only one foot on the floor will deliver only half the airbag? seems like the ADA might take issue with this option.

I knew it's a BS! The guy wasn't a Service Advisor but a head technician in the service department. That's what bugs me the most. The guy must've known that he's BS'ing (right?right?), but why would he lie about it? So he doesn't have to fix what's covered under warranty? My car's over at the dealership at the moment and I'm really worried what they might do to it.
I didn't know there was a center console light that tells if the airbag's activated. I'll check when I get the vehicle.
Thanks.

Yup. I would go over there or at least call and speak with the service manager.

Next thing they'll tell you is that the climate automatic works by detecting your body temperature through the seat sensors.............
