Cool 4.8 to x5m?

I have a fully loaded 08 x5 4.8 space grey, dark bamboo trim, and black nevada leather. I love everything about this car, but there can be some improvements like the idrive.

I've been reading forums about the X5M and x6M and I thought about switching to an M.

The problem is i have a 3 year lease on my 4.8 and in january its going to be one year.

So, do you think the dealers will allow me to switch to an M. & if you were me would you switch to an M?

Melbourne Red/ Black Leather/ Carbon Leather/ fully loaded
Black Sapphire/Sahkir Orange Leather/Piano Black Trim/ fully loaded
both without the rails

which combo would you choose?

It's going to cost you a fortune to get out of your lease 2 years early, there is no such thing as switching it. Just wait it out and get the ///M when your lease is up.

Your lease is with BMWFS, not the dealer, so you're liable for the entire remaining portion of the lease payments. Unless you can find someone to assume the lease, try Swapalease.com Worlds Largest Lease Marketplace or LeaseTrader.com - Car Lease - Auto Lease Assumption - Short Term Leases

You're responsible for the remaining payments, so pretty much 24 times your monthly nut. I'm not sure if the dealer is able to do anything on that number.

How would anyone here know what it would cost you without knowing anything about your payments? If you want to do a very rough guesstimation, take your monthly payment and multiply it times 24. Theres your ballpark number just to get out of the lease now. You could always build it into the new lease payment and drive a shiny new $2500 a month X5M. Sensible? I think not. Worth it? Depends on the depth of your pockets. Doubtful though. I say sit tight. To go thru all this brain damage for 150 more horsepower and the new i drive seems foolish.

Getting out of a lease a year into is possible but not cheap unless, as said before you can get someone to assume it. If you talk to BMW FS they will quote you all of the remaining payments + a lease cancelation fee. So unless you would like to send a 30k check to BMW FS, I would recommend to stay put and get a X5 ///M when the current lease ends.

If you do get a ///M I would choose Melbourne Red/Black Leather of the 2 combos, but IMO the X5 ///M is better in Space Gray/Silverstone Leather/Wood Trim or the X6 ///M in Alpine White/Bamboo Beige Leather/Wood Trim.

As mentioned before, try one of the lease swapping services. You can save a lot of money vs. giving it back to BMWFS. Usually, if you provide a small subsidy to the lease swapper, you greatly increased your odds.

I took over a 2008 Z4 lease earlier this year, and w/the subsidy had a 10 month lease for $385 a month. Not too bad. I did ok, and the seller got out of his lease.

I would try this avenue first (there is no obligation, and you can test the market). I have used Swapalease.com Worlds Largest Lease Marketplace but I am sure the other services listed above should do the same.
