What do you keep in the rear storage?

Here's my customized New Jersey X5 survival gear, much simpler than Cali:

1) Latest issue of Car and Driver (for those boring rescues where you have to wait an extra 45 minutes for the State troopers to pull you out of the ditch)
2) Baseball bat (for dealing with the Jersey Shore retards)
3) Box of Kleenex (for those high pollen-count days)

Haa, this is very true. I guess when I posted this thread, I didn't give much weight to the fact that the vast majority of you all do not live in Earthquake Country.

Pretty much everyone here, at least those I know, have a kit in their car, their home, and their office that is very similar to what I've described in my car.

In fact, earthquake drills and evacuation drills are required by San Francisco for all the office buildings.

I'm not a fear monger, by any means, but I suppose I take for granted that most of the U.S. lives in the relative safety of "stable ground."

I'll admit the AED and airway rescue instruments are over-the-top.

In terms of a Breitling, they're nice, but I've given up on high-priced watch after my Omega Speedmaster self-destructed within the first few minutes of ownership.

Though, the SPOT Personal Locater is my method of choice.

Lastly, in reference to cell phones working in most places, I respectfully disagree. I can't tell you how many times I've been unable to receive a signal of any sort, within sight of "anytown" California or "anytown" Arizona.

There are even dead spots smack in the middle of I-40, I-8, and I-10! I used AT&T and Verizon. In theory, 911 calls, I believe by federal law are routed via any available cell network the phone can pick up. But, factually speaking, if you travel to the extent I do, you are aware that the cellular infrastructure within our country is just not at the level wireless companies would like you to believe.

Again, this is coming from someone who lives in the land of shaky buildings, made in 1902, with no reinforced concrete foundations to speak of. So, yeah, I can see where my "mini-kit" seems overboard to most.

I guess I won't bother posting "what emergency supplies do you keep in your home," hehe....

The OEM car cover fits very nicely, along with some muscle relaxant tablets that make it easier to bend over and kiss yer arse goodbye in the event of earthquake, tsunami, mudslide, wildfire or mountain lion attack here in SoCal.

Wow. What a list. I have 3rd row so not much room back there. I keep extra jackets (for my wife, my kid and myself) and the owners manual (free up the glove compartment) there.
