Dealer Paint Protection warranty + Other options
Dealer offered a paint protection for 7 years for $399 that will protect the car paint from discoloration and fading, bird poop and will "seal" the paint with a one time application.
It also protects the headlights from fading. The headlights are expensive, do they discolor/fade in 7 years? I plan on keeping the car as long as it doesn't give me troubles. Is it worth it? Are there any other options to seal the paint manually? I'm not a DIY guy but starting to learn stuff. Can we just spray some kind of sealant? Thanks for your time as always. |

Not worth it.
You can do as well with a premium "wax." I personally use the Zaino stuff, but I am sure others will be happy to recommend other options. |

I agree, unless your a "I only fill up the car and turn it over for service when the light's been on a while" kinda guy. If that's the case, better than never being waxed for 7 years (assuming that dealer is still in business at the end of that time!).

Dunno about the paint but re the headlights... 3M markets a headlight renewal kit (google or check the South American river) for around $20. I used this on my 8 year old G35's lights and they came out looking like new. Does take some time though.

Everything they offer has 300% markup, not everything they offer is junk, but you should always say no and then have it done after for much less money if you really want something.
