ebayer claiming 214 rims made from same OEM factory with lot less!

Anyone bought from this guys before? He claimed that it is coming from the same manufacturer who make the OEM 214 rims with lot less. The picutre shown same spec number E10Jx20EH2+ IS40. Any comments are welcome!

I don't buy his story, and it's eBay after all.

Ask him what country they're made in and if it's stamped on there... because it should be Mexico if true: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-pictures.html

His asking price is about the same as a replica from a place like wheelsandcaps.com.

This seller is a little funny. Firstly, front and rear rims OEM are different sizes. Next, look at this picture from the same seller and look at the rim body... notice the differences between the two (and this second more costly is supposedly OEM as well). I think the second bead on rim is what sets the two apart when running ROF.

And on the inner rim, you'll see the oem has a ridge on the back of the rim, the "supposed OEM" is flat all across. When I clean mine, I can feel the rear ridge. Something to think about.....

Not all are made in Mexico. I have two 214 wheels stamped "POLAND" both made by Ronal OEM BMW.

I have no affiliation with the seller, but I was impressed when I bought a set from them a couple months ago. I'm not a wheel expert so take my opinion with a grain of salt

I bought 4 of the 10" (front wheels) for my winter set to run 275/40/20 Michellin Alpine winter tires all around. Wheels looked good (not 100% OEM finish, but 97%). Good enough for me given the low price. The seller's service is great. They accidently shipped two 7-series wheels by mistake and cleared it up in a couple days including having UPS pickup the wrong wheels at my home. I plan to buy another set of 10" from them for my wife's '10 3.5d for a summer wheel set.

Email them and nicely ask for a deal on the set (they have both the 10" and 11" wheels if you want a staggered set). I think I paid $800 or $900 including shipping for the set.

Hope that helps.

I haven't even looked at the link or pics but I am sure no manufacturer will make wheels for BMW and then sell them on the side without the BMW stamp for less! They would get sued for everything they're worth.

Replica wheels often look like the real thing to the untrained eye, but if you put the two side by side there are always subtle differences...that's the only way they can get around the patent! Another way to check is usually the weight. The replicas are almost always about 6-8 lbs heavier; and that's quite a difference when you factor in all four wheels...

Purchased from this vendor

Just purchased 214's from this vendor and the quality is good, but not OEM. They have slight imperfections around the small holes and the interior edges are rough to the touch but not visible. They are clearly not OEM as the factory center caps do not fit. They are too small and have to be modified to fit snug. Having said that, these are the closest replicas that I have seen to factory and the performance when combined with Yokohama Parada Spec-X is outstanding. Very happy with the wheels and crazy about the tires.

Factory center caps fit perfectly in the set I bought from them.
