Mine has it too: "563 Ambiance Lighting" is included in Premium Package. When I took delivery it was daytime and we (dealer sales people and I) looked all over and could not see it. By the time I got home from delivery it was dark and the feature was evident (nice too!). I see the red glow in the door pockets and coming down from ceiling console over center console. Are you sure yours is missing? You show Prem in your list.

Nice looking ride! Congrats. Show some interior photos too.

It says that I have it...hmm..I guess from all the excitment of bringing it home i didnt see it. I'll check again tonight. Is ambient lighting something we can turn on and off from the idrive or instrument dimmer switch? I guess I was use to seeing it on the doors on the E90 as shown here: e92 Interior Mood ambient Lights - So Sweet! - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com

Thanks,

DaRip

I believe the E70 ambient lighting is nothing like the E92 lighting. I have been in a 335 coupe and that door lighting is very cool. Nothing like that in the X.

MUCH more subtle than that. You will see a red glow in the door pockets and red glow shining down on the center console. I like it but I doubt I would have been happy had it been as bright as those pictures seem. The poster says they are not as bright as the pictures make them look but that certainly looks too much for me. Don't feel bad about missing them at delivery, we REALLY looked, put our hands in the door pockets and couldn't find them. I do wish the interior door handles had these red lights as well but overall I think it is nice the way it is. I do not think you can turn them off in iDrive. I could see where iDrive lets you turn off (by checking or unchecking) "welcome lights" but it is less than you would think. I had thought it had more to do with the LEDs in the exterior door handles but all I have found so far is that "welcome lights" only changes the headlights coming on or not when you hit the keyfob unlock (and the headlights have to be in the automatic position for this to work at all - of course, most of us keep our headlight switches in the auto position anyway). As soon as you turn the vehicle on in the dark of night, you'll see the Ambient Lighting.

It's too bad that BMW didn't see fit to illuminate the window switches. Seems a bit odd, considering the cost of the vehicle.

?? Mine are back lit - just like the speedo and iDrive controls (and all dash controls too).

Well, I guess I may have found the first thing broken on my X5 then! Odd that none of the window switches on any of the 4 doors are lit though...

Is yours a 2010 model?

Anyone else with a 2010 Diesel that can confirm the window switches are backlit at night?

2010 30i Prem, tech, 6FL, heated front seats, boards and rails.

I guess it could be a Diesel difference, although it doesn't make sense. However, heated steering wheel is no longer part of the cold weather package on the 30i but still offered on Diesel and 4.8

I checked last night and all the window switches are backlit. I think you need to take the car in for service.

As for the ambient lighting, I do have it. It’s just not as bright as the E92-93 and very faint.
